Step 3. Run Around

Step 5. Color Around

Step 9. The Extras

This app belongs to FIREPEGS.
Patent pending.

Step 1. Hello, and please be advised: during the lessons some controls can be disabled because you are expected to follow the directions. At this step you are free to make one choice: if you don't like tooltips, appearing on top of the controls as you point at them, use the checkbox highlighted in yellow.

Are you prepared to learn FIREPEGS? If yes, please click on the following answer.

Step 2. On the left there are the links to some of my projects. Most of them were made for this lesson. You will have a chance to play with them later.

I just started for you the project named Slash. On the right you see the board with firepegs. Firepegs are the rounded squares, changing their colors. Try to click on them to mess up the pattern. Tell me then you are done

Step 3. This time I started the first project named Around, and I highlighted the mode selector in yellow. LIke every other control, this one is located right above the board. Would you please switch the yellow mode selector to SET? Did you switch it?

Step 4. Congratulations, you have stopped the time. But you still can advance it by hand, clicking on the highlighted control named TICK. Do it, and watch how firepegs work. If firepeg has "0" in the middle, it's sleeping. If it has "1", it's waiting to fire up. If it has "2", it's up and glowing. Every firepeg passes the fire to the next firepeg in the loop.

May I proceed to the next step?

Step 5. Set the mode selector on READY. Remark how everything has changed. In this mode you can tinker with firepegs.

Are you prepared to change the colors?

Step 6. Choose a color (not the orange). Click on the orange center of any firepeg to change it's color to your color. Choose another color, color another firepeg or firepegs. In this lesson I allow you to change only the colors, but try not to click on anything else.

Are you done?

Step 7. I'd like you to learn the quick fix: if you clicked on a wrong peg, just click on it again!

When you give firepeg a new color, it remembers the old one. Clicking with the same color for the second time recalls the old color. Click more to see how it works. Did you try?

Step 8. Just one more thing: clicking on All you paint all firepegs at once. Quick fix works, so you may need to change some colors by hand. Choose a color, which only some pegs have, then try to color All. The pegs, which had your chosen color, must have returned to their previous color.

Step 9. I assume you got those four firepegs colored as you like. I switched the mode selector to GO and your pattern is now running. The lesson is over. Good bye!

The Extras. You may stay on this step, choose another pattern, read the comment, switch the mode to READY, change the colors and return to the GO mode. And you can always take shortcut to get right here from any other step.
